South Korean Actress, Song Yoo-jung, Dies At 26

A South Korean actress, Song Yoo-Jung, has died, her agency announced on Sunday. She was 26.

Sublime Artist Agency, which represented the actress, confirmed the news on Twitter. As per the agency’s statement, in the Korean language, the late actress had a passion for performing and a bright smile. The agency gave no cause of death.

Sublime Artist Agency’s website states that Song appeared in the Korean show “Make a Wish” from 2014 to 2015. The website also says that Song acted in the show “Golden Rainbow,” the 2017 show “School 2017,” and the 2019 web drama “Dear My Name.”

According to the website, Song also featured in multiple music videos, as well as in advertisements for companies including The Body Shop, Baskin-Robbins, and Estee Lauder.

Song’s cause of death is unknown as it has not yet been announced, but it comes following multiple suicides from young entertainers in South Korea.

In 2017, the popular South Korean boy band SHINee, Kim Jong-hyun, died at age 27. He committed suicide in his apartment. In 2019, Sulli, another K-pop star, died at 25, notably due to suicide. Week’s later, her friend and a fellow K-pop singer Goo Hara was found dead at 28. With USA Today later reporting it was a suicide.
