Phoebe Waller-Bridge And Donald Glover Are Teaming Up To Remake ‘Mr And Mrs Smith’

Emmy winners Phoebe Waller-Bridge And Donald Glover are teaming up to remake “Mr and Mrs Smith” into an Amazon Prime series.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator of “Fleabag” and Glover the creator of “Atlanta”, will play the title characters. They will also serve as executive producers, Amazon Studios stated Friday. The 2005 film notably paired Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who disclosed their relationship months after the film released.

Waller-Bridge and Glover teamed up previously in 2018’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story”, with Waller-Bridge as droid L3-37 and Glover as Lando Calrissian.

Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said in a statement, “Phoebe and Donald are two of the most creative performers and creators in the world. It’s a dream for us, as it will be for our world audience, to have these two talented people collaborating as a powerhouse creative team.”

New Regency produced the original 2005 film. The series, produced by New Regency and Amazon Studios, will be available to Amazon Prime members in more than 240 territories and countries.

The announcement did not include the number of episodes that will be produced or a premiere date.

The original action film, which did the business of $487 million worldwide, and featured Jolie and Pitt as a bored couple shocked to learn that they are each assassin and are assigned to kill each other.

Donald Glover, also an acclaimed musical performer, took home two Emmys for “Atlanta”. Waller-Bridge won three Emmys for “Fleabag”.
