Pioneering actress Cicely Tyson passes away at age 96

The Hollywood actress passes away at the age of 96 informed her manager. The actress was famous for portraying strong African-American roles on the big screen. The former model had a career that spanned over about seven decades.

However, the cause of death hasn’t yet been given any information about.
Tyson became the first black woman to take the lead role in a TV drama Eastside/Westside in the 1960s.
She won two Emmys for her performance in the civil rights era film The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman in 1975.

Medal of Freedom

Tyson was presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016, by then US President Barrack Obama. He complimented her for all her achievements as an actress and also for how she shaped history.

Ms Tyson even rejected all those roles of playing a stereotypical black woman. She only agreed to play roles that were strong, positive, and realistic.
Larry Thompson, her career manager for the last 40 years when announcing Miss Tyson’s death earlier today told how each year with the late actress was a blessing and a privilege. He further told how Cicely thought of her new memoir as a Christmas tree and all the stories about her personal and professional life being an ornament on it and how the end of the journey was the final top star of the tree. Moreover, he added that the actress died peacefully surrounded by people who loved and cared for her.

Tyson’s memoir gave a detailed account of everything that happened in her life. From accidentally hanging on Mr Obamas aide back in 2016 to how she met her husband.
On hearing news of her death, many actors took to their social media to share their experience with the actress, including the former President.
