The Gloden Globe has nominated three women directors for the best directors. For the first time, this is happening that the shortlisting of a female director in a single year is more than one.
Regina King, Emerald Fennell, and Chloe Zhao are in the list for the award. Previously in the history of 77 years, Golden Globes had nominated only five women.
Mank leads the overall film awards run with six nominations in the list. In the TV categories, The Crown leads, the honour also by six nominations.

Women behind the camera
For playing the role of Camilla Parker Bowles, Emerald Fenellwould be familiar to The Crown’s fans. The Brit did not receive her nominations acting but for Promising Young Woman. The show is Fenell’s first feature film of her as a director.
She was also nominated for the best screenplay for writing for the best comic thriller. Moreover, she was previously a chief writer on the second series of the Killing Eve.
Regina King is famous in both film and TV fans. She won a Golden Globe and an Oscar in 2018, for If Beale Street Could Talk.

Chinese director Chloe Zhao is the first woman of Asian lineage to be up for the Golden Globes best director award, from Nomanland.
