Biden gathers a team for combating key Senate issues
The newly elected US president Joe Biden has gathered a team that will primarily be in charge of handling confirmation battles for the Senate nominees.
This plan of action comes as the former vice president is gearing up to form a cabinet in the upcoming weeks. The confirmation process is likely to kick-off Team Biden’s first political showdowns inside the Senate along with the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell provided the Republicans cling to their majority during the Georgia run-offs scheduled to happen on January 5.
Confirmation teams assist the senate nominees in hearing preparations, convening or scheduling meeting with senators and in handling pressure coming from the external parties. Biden is also planning to introduce the members of his cabinet to the American people by making them talk in public before their confirmation hearings are scheduled.
The former communication director during the Obama regime, Joe Psaki will be given the charge of overseeing the nominations team as per a CNN report. The communication strategy will be spearheaded by Biden’s former aide in the Senate, Olivia Alair Dalton and the strategy will be led by Senate Democrat Whip Dick Durbin’s floor director Reema Dodin. Jorgi Neri will be appointed as deputy outreach director for confirmations who was initially former senior advisor to Biden’s election campaign.
Others who will be constituting the team as reported by Politico would include Andrew Bates (who was Biden campaign’s rapid response director) taking the leadership role with Sean Savett (who was Pete Buttigieg campaign’s rapid response director) and Saloni Sharma (who was Elizabeth Warren campaign’s former deputy communications director. The team will also consist of Stephanie Valencia who will keep the charge of Biden transition outreach and Louisa Terrell who will handle congress’s transitional affairs.
