A resolution among the democrats has been introduced to remove a pro-Trump republican lawmaker off her committee assignments.
Marjorie Taylor Greene’s past social media posts have embraced many conspiracy theories.
The resolution filed by the Democratic group is titled ‘line-in-the-sand moment for the Republican Party.’
Marjorie Taylor Greene is the US congresswoman for Georgia’s 14th congressional region. Last month Mrs Greene proposed a proposal attempting to denounce the States now President Joe Biden.
In reference to this, she on Monday tweeted that if democrats would expel her from her committee, she can assure them that the exemplar they are using will be largely used against members of their side once she and her party regains the majority in after the elections of the year 2022.
She further added that they would regain the majority, and there’s no doubt about that.
Mrs Greene was assigned to the Education and Labour Committee, and the budget committee. The Republican committee leader Kevin McCarthy gave her the positions in November.
How are Democrats trying to punish the congresswoman?
Democrats contend that she has forfeited her right to join these panels because of her past remarks. At the same time, they are emphasizing the education committee, particularly.
Congresswoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is a Florida Democrat, is leading the resolution. She has stated that the House would need to step in if Republicans don’t guard their own.
On Monday, House Democratic Majority Leader, Steny Hoyer, delivered an ultimatum to Mr McCarthy to remove Mrs Geerne. She stated that if he did not do this within 72 hours, the Democrats would bring the issue to the House floor.
Moreover, California democrat Jimmy Gomez is accusing Mrs Greene of extremism. Mr Jimmy has around 61 of his colleagues co-sponsoring the long shot intention to expel Mrs Greene.
Also, a few of Mrs Greene’s own Republicans have deserted her.
Mitch McCollen, the senate minority leader, has criticized the conspiracy theories she has upheld as ‘loony lies’ and ‘cancer for the republican party.’
Mrs Greene filed articles of impeachment last month, against president Biden. Mrs Green accused him of corruption and abuse of power. She also alleged that his son, Hunter Biden channels cash from Russia and China.
For the fringe group Q-Anon, her sympathies were public knowledge when she first went for the congressional seat in north-west Georgia last year.
Mrs Greene is a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump. She previously suggested that the Democratic nominee of 2016 White House, Hilary Clinton was a part of child mutilation and paedophilia link.
