A last-minute stunner from Adama Traore sealed the win for the Wolverhampton side against Fulham in Premier League. On the other hand, Fulham’s in deep trouble now as they’re trailing by three points from the safe zone. As for the Wolves, they’re currently battling in the middle of the table at 12th place.
Both sides looked sluggish in the first half and didn’t register a single shot on target. However, both teams’ midfielders created a decent amount of chances but failed to develop them in any goal.
Willian Jose almost scored his first goal for the club in the first half through a lofted delivery from Podence. But, VAR intervened and disallowed the goal as Podence was caught offside while receiving the ball earlier. As a result, the score remained 0-0 during the first half.
The game looked even more cagey in the second half, and both team’s defence performed brilliantly. However, both teams tried their best to break the deadlock and tested the goalkeepers quite well.
In the 90+2nd minute, Adama Traore stunned everyone with a goal from nowhere and scored the first goal of his season. From there, three points were already guaranteed for the Wolves, whereas Fulham’s hopes of staying in the PL will depend on Newcastle now.
How both team’s managers reacted?
Wolves manager Nuno Santo looked happy with his team’s performance and praised Adama’s hard work. However, he showed his disappointment with VAR and added that football needs to find a solution.
On the other hand, Fulham’s manager, Scott Parker, admitted that this defeat was brutal to take. Moreover, he further added that it’d not be easy for his team to bounce back from this defeat. He commented this his team did everything but couldn’t finish the game rightly.
From here, Fulham will now travel to their London rivals, Arsenal’s stadium, on 18th April. On the other hand, Wolves will host another team from the relegation zone, Sheffield United, on 17th April.
