Manchester City has won the Premier League title after the closest contenders, Manchester United, were beaten by Leicester City. It is the third Premier League title in four years for Manchester City.
It is the fifth time in nine years City have finished top of the English football pyramid.
Pep Guardiola’s team is now 10 points ahead of second-placed Manchester United, who have just two games remaining.
“This has been a Premier League and season title like no other,” said Guardiola.
“This was the hardest of all. We will never forget this year for the way we won. I am so happy to be the manager of this group of players.
“They all are so special. To come through this year, with all the difficulties and restrictions we’ve faced – and show the consistency we have is incredible. It is remarkable.
“Every single day, fighting for success, working continuously to be better. They have been so relentless.
“I have been in Germany, I have been in Spain, and I can say this is the most difficult league, I would say by far.”
50-year-old Guardiola has now won eight trophies since arriving in Manchester City in 2016.
