At a news conference on Tuesday, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Sciences of North Carolina Dr. Mandy Cohen said that the number of positive cases is rising and an increasing number of people are visiting the emergency department. He also said that many locals were getting seriously sick with Covid-19. This makes the conditions worrisome for the state.
Potentially, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines could get authorized by the FDA. As per Cooper, these vaccines are the ray of hope for the citizens. The Pfizer vaccine needs to be stored in an ultra-cold atmosphere because of its nature. Cooper said that the state is preparing for receiving this vaccine.
Cooper said that North Carolina is a big state that has hundreds of miles spread as rural areas. This geography of the state presents many challenges in front of the government, but Cooper said that they are ready to face any problem to keep every person in the state safe.
As per Cooper, North Carolina is expecting to get this vaccine’s version because the first company to reach the stage of authorization was Pfizer. This makes everyone believe that it will be the first vaccine to get approved.
According to Copper, North Carolina will be getting 84,800 doses with the first shipment of the vaccine which will be approved countrywide. Cooper said that he is expecting this currently. He believes that as soon as the vaccine is approved, the first shipment will be sent immediately. After which, the second allocation will be considered.
