In this week, the history-making second trial of Donald Trump’s impeachment will be opening with a new sense of urgency. This will be done by the Democrats who are planning to hold the former President Donald Trump accountable for the siege at the U.S. Capitol and his own Republicans who want the process to get over as soon as possible.
Approximately one month from the deadly event that unfolded in the form of riot, the proceedings are expected to be diverged from the complicated long trial procedures that were responsible for acquitting Donald Trump approximately one year ago on the charges of privately pressuring Ukraine to find out in depth about the then-rival Joe Biden from the Democrats party. However, the recent riots at the Capitol after Trump’s rally cry on January 6 that asked his supporters to “”fight like hell,” happened as the world saw it. It is possible for Trump to be acquitted again but the trial process will be over much before expected (in half the time).
Currently, the Senate leaders are negotiating the details of the proceedings. In this, the details regarding the questions of the senators, duration of every opening argument, and details about the deliberations will be discussed.
Currently, it seems like only some witnesses will be called while the defence attorneys and prosecutors directly speak with the Senators. These senators have been sworn for delivering impartial justice to the people by being their jurors. Many of the witnesses have seen the siege at the time of which they fled the scene to protect themselves from the rioters who temporarily paused the electoral count which would certify Joe Biden’s victory by breaking into the Capitol.
