The UK’s Government will formally apply to countries like Australia and Japan to join a free trade. The government is currently trying for the membership of CPTPP, under the post-Brexit plan.
Liz Truss, the international trade secretary, will have a conference with Japan and New Zealand on Monday. The government expects to become a member of CPTPP after the anniversary of Britain’s farewell from the EU. The UK government will benefit from joining other CPTPP as the trade tariff with many countries will go down.
Mexico, Vietnam are those two countries along with 9 other members. One year after their farewell with the EU, the country is looking forward to forging a new partnership for benefitting the citizens of its country- says the UK prime minister Boris Johnson. Also, this formal request from the UK government shows business ambition with other countries with a positive intent.
Federation of small businesses (FSB) welcomes the decision and states that it would help various capital and labour. Moreover, with this decision, business firms would thrive and flourish to a greater extent. However, the shadow secretary of foreign affairs, Emily Thornberry, firmly believes that labour will examine the agreement. Hence, the government needs to seek the public’s opinions as well.
Sue Davies, the Head of Protection and Food Policy, asserted that the government needs to certify the profits. Moreover, he insisted that they need to ensure the joining the pact with CPTPP will bring fair consumer benefits.
