All passengers will now have to show the negative result of the COVID-19 test while arriving in the US. The rule applies to both foreign passengers and US citizens. The same type of decision was made for the passengers coming from the UK due to the new variant of COVID-19.

So far, there are more than 22 million cases of coronavirus cases in the US, and more than 370,000 people are dead. The decision is made to stop new kinds of variants enter among the US residents.

All passengers will have to take a coronavirus test within three days of the flight’s departure. Moreover, this new order will be effective from 26 January, which is about two weeks from now.

In case any passenger doesn’t have a test result, then airlines can stop them from boarding the flight.

The COVID-19 update of US

So far, three US states have already reported the new variant of COVID, known as B117. Colorado was the first state to confirm the case of the new variant. However, the new variant of COVID-19 is considered to be more contagious rather than more severe. Recently, the White House also warned people about the new variant and its aggressive spread worldwide. Moreover, the US is still reporting more than 150,000 cases every week.

Many major cities like California and Arizona are still reporting maximum cases per 100,000 population. CDC recommends vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. However, it won’t be fair to rely on vaccines completely. As a result, US residents need to understand the importance of social distancing and wear masks in public areas. While the first tier of Phase 1 is already in progress, the second tier 1B of providing vaccines will begin from 1 February 2021.

The CDC Director Robert R Redfield also added that staying at home and precautions like wearing masks and maintaining social distance will surely reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its new variants.
