“Elvis is in the house!”
CBS “The Talk” started Mother’s Day week with a pleasant surprise for Amanda Kloots, the co-host of the show, who will celebrate her first Mother’s Day following the death of her husband, Nick Cordero, from coronavirus complications in July at age 43.
Elaine Welteroth, the co-host, introduced Cordero’s and Kloots son Elvis, who will turn three next month: “We’re very excited to have Elvis on the Mother’s Day celebration. Making his TV debut, please welcome… the very lovable Elvis Cordero.”
The baby was dressed up in white from top to bottom as he walked onstage to his “dearest song,” his dad’s “Live Your Life,” which turned out to be an inspirational anthem during Nick’s struggle with COVID-19. Elvis jumped into his mother’s arms and gave her a bouquet of tulips.
“Are you joking right now?” 39-year-old Kloots said before hugging her son. “I can’t imagine he just did that.”
The co-host, Sheryl Underwood, said, “that’s how you make a debut.” Welteroth added, “What a sweetheart.”
The co-host team, which included names like Jerry O’Connell and Justin Baldoni, showered Elvis and Kloots with gifts, including “The Talk” matching pyjamas and a toy garbage truck.
Gayle King and many other actors from “Sesame Street” also participated in the fun.
“I know you don’t require my advice on how to be a great mom,” Gayle said in a recorded clip. “I notice how good you are with Elvis and how much you care about him. “However, I can tell as much as you love this phase with your child, it only gets better.”
