Darwin went on a voyage on H.M.S. Beagle after which when he reached back home in England, he recorded his raw thoughts on two little books. These ideas which were penned down by him are said to be gravitating towards the concept of the theory of evolution. Without knowing about the value of his idea, Darwin went on to create the foundation of the study of modern evolutionary biology.
Recently, the library has announced that its staff believes that the little notebooks were probably stolen. They have started a public appeal on Tuesday, requesting everyone to provide information about those two books if they know anything about them. Interpol has been asked by the local police to include the names of these articles in the register of Stolen Works of Art.
The library of the University of Cambridge has the largest collection of Darwin’s works out of the libraries all around the world. This library has described the tiny books to be priceless to their collection. However, a physical value in terms of pounds has not been provided by their team.
Many museum exhibits have reproduced and used one page of these books. This page has a very raw sketch which is known as the ‘Tree of Life’ by Darwin. This tree sketch shows a common ancestor from which the related species could originate from. This process is similar to that of tree branches stemming out from the tree’s trunk.
