Over 40 lawmakers of the US urged Joe Biden to take necessary measures to administer the equal distribution of vaccines worldwide.
These efforts are led by two of the Indian-American legislators named Pramila Jayapal and Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi. In addition, they are helped by congressman Tom Malinowski and Indian American congressman Ro Khanna.
In the letter, the congressmen requested the white house to five measures which were listed very specifically.
The letter is being sent to the G7 summit for the time being. In which wealthy countries have governed more than 80% of global vaccines. Whereas the low-income countries have got only 0.3%.
The letter was quoted by the lawmakers’ words, urging them to vaccinate the world quickly. They wrote, “We urge you to pursue a bold strategy to vaccinate the world as quickly as possible”.
The help of other solid and stable countries are indeed required. And the strong countries should cooperate in this situation to make the world covid free.
They also added we should cooperate in this situation using the full potential of our forces to achieve the primary goal.
The Congressman insisted on facilitating the rapid transfer of technology that can ease and increase the vaccination processes. In addition, they urged Biden to use every influencing tool to speed up the process of worldwide vaccinations. The tools include persuasion, diplomacy and using the power of legal authorities to impact the goal positively.
They also urged him to prefer the new issue of the free international Monetary fund reserve asset. The asset aims to strengthen the public budgets and provide support to low-income countries.
Request from the lawmakers
Finally, the lawmakers requested the president assemble a global vaccine summit to ease and speed up the process.
All these requests were made to the president by looking at the speed of vaccination and worldwide cases. There are around 3 million deaths and 172 million positive cases of Covid-19 confirmed till now.
The numbers are horrifying and increasing every day, so speedy vaccinations are required, and lawmakers set the aim.
They are ready to deploy every weapon in their arsenal to achieve speedy vaccinations and recoveries worldwide.
